Beginning knitting class with Sandra Holladay. First class is on Thursday, May 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. Join us for an introduction to knitting, starting from the beginning. Learn what knitting is, how to select yarn and needles for your project, how to knit and follow patterns and more.
Materials: Either bring your own, or before/during class, get 15% off on US #8 straight needles and one or two skeins worsted-weight yarn (preferably plain-colored and not too dark...so you can see the stitches) or choose US #10 straight needles and bulk-weight yarn. We will be knitting a scarf.
Skills learned:reading a basic pattern/terminology, reading the yarn ball band, understanding gauge and when it is necessary to knit a gauge swatch, long-tail cast on, knit, purl, bind off, and a review of other useful knitting supplies.
Not recommended to children under 12.
